Kim Tedford Appointed Director of Jackson-Madison County Health Department

JACKSON – Madison County Mayor Jimmy Harris and Tennessee Department of Health Commissioner John Dreyzehner, MD, MPH, announce the appointment of Kim Tedford, RN, as public health director of the Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department. Tedford, who has nearly 25 years of service with the Madison County department, has served as interim director since October, 2014.

Among Ms. Tedford’s many contributions to residents of Jackson and Madison County is service as regional director of nursing for eight years said Harris. In that capacity, her responsibilities included oversight of clinical staff and budgets to ensure the department performed optimally. She eagerly accepted the role of interim director for the last 10 months.

Tedford joined the Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department in October, 1990, as a public health nurse. She had previously served as a hospital floor clinical manager for a 42-bed medical unit. In 2007, she was named regional nursing director for the health department. She serves as a member of the Mayor’s Advisory Council on Domestic and Sexual Violence; as a member of the Coding Support Team and as a subject matter expert on electronic public health records for the Tennessee Department of Health; and is the Emergency Response Medical Task Force leader for the Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department.
