JACKSON - West Tennessee Healthcare announced that the LIFT Wellness Center has achieved LEED® Certification. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is the foremost green building program. While addressing the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of buildings, homes, and communities, LEED inspires project teams to seek innovative solutions that are better for our environment and better for our communities.
Although buildings are increasingly recognizing the need and importance of energy efficient design, sustainable site development, educated material selection and proper indoor air quality, the LIFT Wellness Center is only the second building in Jackson to achieve LEED Certification. The facility excelled with the following in order to achieve its certification: 73 percent of construction material waste was recycled, 35 percent of water use has been reduced, 23 percent of materials were sourced locally, and a Green Housekeeping program is in place to ensure the interior environment remains healthy for all occupants. Locally owned and operated Crocker Construction, served as the construction partner for the project.
Located in Downtown Jackson, the LIFT Wellness Center is the area’s only medical fitness center. The concept was born out of a West Tennessee Healthcare initiative called Living in a Fit Tennessee (LIFT) that combines medical fitness, lifestyle education and a community-wide focus to deliver an improved quality of life to the whole region. The 84,000+ square foot center houses a full fitness facility, indoor climbing wall, full-size basketball court, two indoor pools and hot tub, spacious locker rooms, medical clinic, comprehensive physical therapy services, as well as many other cutting edge amenities. The LIFT serves as the anchor for, Jackson Walk, one of Jackson's newest developments. Jackson Walk is a vibrant healthy community that encompasses 149 upscale apartments, newly constructed single family homes, and an inviting mix of locally owned and operated retailers at The Shops of Jackson Walk. The entire development is part of an ongoing community redevelopment initiative working to establish a new healthcare model by revitalizing the center city core with new residential, commercial, retail, and wellness services, all while helping to promote a sustainable, healthy, safe, and pedestrian-friendly environment.
