Dyer Named Department Manager of the Quarter


 

PARIS – In the January department managers’ meeting, Charles Dyer, director of pharmacy at Henry County Medical Center, was awarded the Department Manager of the Quarter.   

Charles Dyer was selected as Department Manager of the Quarter by Administration for his hard work over the past few years. The pharmacy has had tremendous growth and he has handled this exponential growth with the existing resources. In addition he has taken on a number of initiatives including assisting the Healthcare Center with their services, developing a residency program which is completing its first year, and a implementing a medication safety initiative including medication reconciliation and antibiotic stewardship.  

Since Dyer began his career at HCMC, the pharmacy department has gone from filling 20 prescriptions a day to over 150 a day. Dyer’s passion is truly about providing the best patient care and any programs that allow for him and his staff to do this, he embraces.  He credits his staff for all the achievements the pharmacy department, though, his leadership and compassion are the driving force for these programs that better the care for the community we serve.  

Dyer is originally from Lexington, Tenn., where he attended high school.  He went to UT-Martin for two years and completed his BS in Pharmacy in 1979 from Samford University.  He worked at Regional Hospital in Jackson, TN for 23 years before coming to HCMC, where he has served as pharmacy director for 11 years.  For 27 years, Dyer has been a pharmacy director.
