West Tennessee Healthcare recently welcomed Dina Ahmad, M.D., advanced gastroenterologist, to West Tennessee and her new medical practice at West Tennessee Medical Group - Gastroenterology. Dr. Ahmad is experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of digestive health conditions. She specializes in gastrointestinal wellness and nutrition, colonoscopy and routine endoscopy to evaluate general GI symptoms, gastroesophageal reflux, or screening for colon polyps. She performs advanced endoscopy using special technology and equipment to manage more complex gastrointestinal, pancreas, biliary, or liver-related disorders. Dr. Ahmad performs minimally invasive and advanced gastrointestinal procedures exclusively at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Dr. Ahmad earned her medical degree from The University of Jordan School of Medicine and Surgery in Amman, Jordan. She completed her residency in internal medicine at The University of Missouri. She completed her fellowship training in gastroenterology and hepatology at The University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Ahmad completed her advanced endoscopy fellowship at The University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center/CWRU.

"I am committed to helping people with digestive disorders lead more comfortable and healthy lives by providing education on the value of nutrition, and prescribing medications, when necessary," Dr. Ahmad said.

"I also specialize in minimally invasive procedures that use endoscopes equipped with tiny video cameras to visualize the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract. Depending on the findings, what may start as a diagnostic procedure can progress to a therapeutic procedure, such as in cases of upper GI bleeding or the discovery of polyps during colonoscopy," she said.
